These Pigs in a Blanket with Cheese make for the perfect appetizer or main dish, and are ready in 30 minutes. Topped with Garlic and Parmesan for the best flavor boost!
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F, then line two cookie sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
Combine parmesan cheese, garlic powder and salt in a small bowl and stir to combine. Set aside.
If using large slices of cheese, but each large slice into 4 small squares for a total of 24 small slices of cheese. Set aside.
Follow thawing instructions for puff pastry on the box. Once thawed, lay each on a flat surface and use a knife or pizza cutter to slice each puff pastry into 12 even (try your best) squares. You should have a total of 24 squares between both puff pastry sheets.
Lay a slice of cheese over top of each puff pastry slice. Put one little smokie sausage on top of each slice of cheese. Gently wrap the puff pastry around the sausage and use your finger to pinch the seem closed. Set the wrapped pigs in a blanket on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet seam side down. Repeat until all the piggies are sealed.
Brush each pigs in a blanket with a small amount of melted butter, then sprinkle over a little garlic parmesan seasoning.
Bake in the oven on the center rack at 425 degrees F for 12-15 minutes, or until the outside of the puff pastry is golden and crispy. Enjoy warm with sauce and side of choice!
Cheese Notes: If using regular slices of cheese I use 6 and cut each slice into 4 pieces. I have also found that the pre-sliced cracker cut cheese is the perfect size and saves on some prep time. Leftover Storage: Store leftover pigs in a blanket in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. It is best to reheat them in the oven, so they will not get soggy. Serve Warm: I recommend serving the piggies warm. You can keep them warm by keeping them in the oven on a low heat so they stay warm and crisp and not soggy.
